About Us
Why grab a bite in a cookie-cutter restaurant when you can take a cruise on land at our historic San Gabriel landmark, Clearman's Galley?
"The Boat" was originally launched in 1913 as a mail-service vessel between San Francisco and Alaska. John Clearman brought it to San Gabriel in 1968, where it became a hamburger stand with patio seating.
Now, 40 years after serving its first hamburger, Clearman’s Galley is now open – a larger version of “The Boat” that seats almost 300 guests (and that patio is larger too, big enough for 90). And there’s a new full-service bar serving up to two dozen beers.
More big-screen HD TVs make for sports-night entertainment and a fun, family-friendly dining experience. If you love classic boats, great food, or championship sports, come aboard the new Clearman's Galley for a rousing good time.
Come on in – your table is waiting!
Management Team Bios
Drew Hopkins is no stranger to the infamous cabbage salad and cheese bread. He grew up nearby Clearman's Galley patronizing "The Boat" and all the Clearman’s Restaurants. So, it's with special enthusiasm that he has come aboard as the new General Manager at Clearman’s Galley in San Gabriel. Hopkins has been in the restaurant industry for over 16 years. Formally trained in both back of the house and front end operations, he has years of experience helping other restaurants attain their full potential. “This industry is truly my passion. Getting to work with fabulous people and meet new customers everyday is what keeps me energized," says Hopkins. His enthusiasm appears to be infectious. The staff and regulars have already seen his plans to expand the craft beer selections, extend hours to attract more of a late night scene at the Galley, and bring in a lively band.
